Our Alumni - Work For Us
A DEGREE THAT FITS YOUR LIFE
New for September 2026 Entry
Most degrees give you a timetable that changes semester to semester, with teaching scattered across four or five days. By the time you find out your schedule, it's too late to plan childcare, commit to a job, or organise your commute. Fixed block delivery was created because students told us that needed to change.
Our fixed block delivery courses are full-time undergraduate degrees with all campus teaching scheduled across three fixed days a week - so you can plan work, family and life around your studies with complete confidence.
See the difference a fixed structure makes
A typical degree timetable spreads contact hours across the week making it difficult to plan your life around your studies. Fixed block delivery changes that.

Fixed block delivery is a full-time degree. Campus teaching is concentrated into three days, but independent study, reading and assessment work continues across the week. The benefit is that your non-campus days are yours to structure around work, family and life - with complete predictability.
Three courses. Three fixed days. One smarter way to study.
Our 2026 pilot launches with three undergraduate courses, each a full honours degree delivered on a fixed campus schedule and supported by the full Northumbria student experience.

The smarter structure explained
Fixed block delivery is a full-time degree. You will study across the week including independent learning on non-campus days. The difference is that your campus teaching days are fixed, predictable and stay the same for the duration of your degree.
Fixed days, every week
All lectures and seminars take place across a maximum of three consecutive days on campus. The same pattern, every week, for every year of your degree.
Know your study days upfront
Your campus teaching days are already confirmed - so you can plan childcare, work rotas and travel arrangements right now, before you even apply.
Same degree, same outcome
You will graduate with exactly the same qualification, the same teaching quality and the same academic standards as any other student on the programme.
Lectures available on demand
Most lectures are recorded and available online. Revisit at any time or catch up at your own pace after your lectures.
Designed for real people, living real lives.
Because many people need more than a degree. They need a study model that adapts to their commitments, not that other way round.
Students who work
With three fixed campus days, you can commit to a part-time work rota on non-teaching days and know it will never clash with your studies.
Students with caring responsibilities
Whether you are managing childcare or caring for a family member, you need a schedule you can plan around - not one that changes semester to semester.
Commuters from across the region
Travelling in from across the North East? Three focused campus days means fewer journeys and lower travel costs - with parking and transport support included.
Students from further afield
Not sure about committing to full student accommodation? Our discounted Motel One partnership lets you book nights flexibly around your three campus days, with free cancellation up to 6pm on the day of arrival.
Career changers and returners
Coming back to education after time away? The predictable, structured format makes re-entering study far more manageable alongside everything else in your life.
We will support you through every step
Choosing a degree is a significant decision. We have built a dedicated support process for fixed block delivery students so you are never navigating it alone.

FAQs
Does this apply to all courses?
At the moment, we are offering this model on the following courses:
- International Business Management BSc (Hons) - Monday to Wednesday
- Business and Analytics BSc (Hons) - Monday to Wednesday
- Health and Social Care BSc (Hons) - Tuesday to Thursday
This is a pilot, and we are hoping to expand this list in future years.
Are fees the same as standard degrees?
Yes – tuition fees remain the same as a standard full-time undergraduate degree. That's because fixed block delivery is exactly that: a full-time degree, with the same volume of teaching, the same academic standards, and the same qualification at the end. The only difference is how your time on campus is structured.
How do modules work on these courses?
In your first year, all modules are core and studied by every student on the programme. In subsequent years, to deliver a guaranteed three day teaching schedule, modules are pre-selected by the programme team rather than individually chosen. This ensures all teaching fits within your confirmed campus days.
Can I commute rather than live in halls?
Absolutely. The grouped teaching days have been designed to make commuting significantly easier and more predictable. Find out more on our Commuter Students webpage.
Can I work while studying?
We recognise that, for many students, working part-time alongside their degree is a necessity. This model allows you the certainty of knowing which days you are on-campus, so you can commit to a part-time work rota on non-teaching days.
You can also receive support in securing a part-time job. Our annual Part-Time Jobs Fair connects students with local employers - open to all years and courses, no booking required.
Do I still need to do independent study?
Yes – you'll complete independent learning and assessments around your fixed teaching days.
Is this an accelerated degree?
No. It's delivered at the same pace as a standard degree – just on a maximum of three consistent teaching days per week.
Is this route the same as a standard degree?
Yes. You'll graduate with the same qualification, same teaching quality and have access to the same resources both on- and off-campus.
Will I ever need to attend sessions outside my three guaranteed teaching days?
Academic Language Skills (where required to support your writing and communication) may be scheduled outside the three guaranteed campus days.
Will I get real-world experience?
Yes. Every undergraduate course at Northumbria guarantees real-world experience. From live projects and industry partnerships to placements, you'll graduate with practical skills alongside your qualification.
Will my timetable really stay the same?
Yes. Your teaching days will remain fixed so you can plan work, childcare, travel and routines with confidence.
